Email Tips: Setting Up Your Pegasus Mail Client On A PC

  1. Start Pegasus. The first time you start it, a wizard will prompt you for the information it needs to setup an account.
  2. Click one of the install options which matches the way you want to use Pegasus.
  3. Type the full path to the directory where you want your mail stored or accept the default folder and then click OK.
  4. Click Next to continue with Pegasus Mail Internet Setup.
  5. In Your electronic mail address box, type your e-mail address and then click Next.
  6. Decide if you want to use POP or IMAP as your incoming mail server type. Follow the instructions below for the type of server you chose:

    • POP server: In The address of your POP3 Server box, type pop.ksu.edu and then click Next.
    • IMAP server: Leave the POP3 server box blank and click Skip. Go to step 9 and continue with the remaining steps in this section and then see Completing IMAP Setup to finish configuring the IMAP settings.

  7. In the User name box, type your eID.
  8. In the Password box, type your password.
  9. In The address of your SMTP server box, type the name of your Internet Service Provider\'s outgoing mail server and then click Next.

    Notes:
    • If you use K-State\'s Telecommunications as your Internet Service Provider (ISP), type smtp.ksu.edu for the outgoing server.
    • If you use someone other than K-State as your ISP, contact them for this information.

  10. Click Dialup or Network at the How do you connect to the Internet? window and then click Next.
  11. Click Finish.

Completing IMAP Setup

  1. On the Tools menu, click IMAP profiles.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Enter a name for this definition box, type a name for the definition.
  4. In the IMAP server address box, type imap.ksu.edu
  5. In the Server port box, type 993
  6. In the Login name box, type your eID.
  7. In the Password box, type your eID password and then click OK.

    Note: If you don\'t want Pegasus to remember your password, do not enter your password in the password box. It will then prompt you for your password each time you login.
  8. Click the Settings tab and click the settings and behaviours that you desire.

    Note: If you want to connect to this IMAP folder each time you start Pegasus, click the Always connect to this profile When Pegasus Mail starts up check box.

  9. Click the Security tab.
  10. Select Via direct SSL connect.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Click Connect and then click Done.
